My Own Oregon Trail (Part 1)

My drive today from Burns to the Rogue Valley was as pretty as yesterday's drive, but with very different landscape...once I left Walla Walla, WA yesterday, I headed down Hwy 395 thru the Umatilla and Malheur Nat'l Forests...very scenic but I was still a bit unnerved about ending up in WA...and to throw me even more off kelter....

Yep, it's a camel...in Washington state...wearing a harness...come to think of it, the last time I saw a camel was in WA too, a few yrs ago passing thru Spokane...I passed a pickup pulling a small trailer with a camel in it... ??

I don't remember this river's name...there are a lot of rivers and streams in Oregon...

Talk about timing...I was never 'into' wildflower photography while living in S Oregon...don't know yet if the wild columbine grew where I lived but it's growing in the Umatilla Nat'l Forest...

This yellow flower that looks like lupine was growing abundantly for several miles along one part of the route...again, to be ID'd later...

The view waaaay below as I climbed uphill along hwy 395...somewhere N or S of Mt. Vernon...

Indian paintbrush, in Oregon? Who knew? Certainly not me, as with the wild columbine; what a dumb bunny!

Ok I really gotta hit the hay...as you can see I'm a day behind w/ my posts, but oh well...will probably catch up once I land in N Calif....tomorrow! Yay!
