Gawking at Hawks III

I did see more hawks during my drive east last Friday...of course photos didn't come out good due to back-lighting...hard to explain to a bird of prey that it needs to be perched on the other side of the road...

The only hawk I see in the field guide with this distinct eye stripe is the rough-legged hawk. But you know me and hawks...I do research and still feel stumped...

A red-tailed hawk (?) peeking out of the bare branches...

And this one...no clue at all...UGH!
Update: Thanks Tucker, I was leaning towards this being a red-tailed hawk...

  1. Your last two photos are of Red-tailed Hawks.

  2. I'm not good at IDing hawks either. After I see one in person, I usually remember it forever.
