The wood lily is better known as the tiger lily...and yes, it grows wild in the Black Hills! It is fairly scarce...it runs from this deep coral pink to orange. I was lucky to find a couple on one of the side roads...where I found the insolent doe yesterday!

My experience with insolent (or any other) deer and lilies is that you not only were lucky to find the wood lily, but it was lucky the deer hadn't eaten it!
