Oh steadfast Mr. Meadowlark, with prairie song and kindly good cheer,
As you watch me come a little closer, you seem to say, "Come, sit a spell... why not have an icy cold beer?"
Other feathered fellows aren't nearly so accom-odating or so charming...
In fact, the speed at which they fly away
can be a bit alarming.
But I can always count on you to offer up some grub...
And sometimes make me laugh out loud...
But I also admire your serious side, how guarding your territory makes you proud.
I know I'll find you there,
for having a life that you're willing to share.
What a lovely bird and lovely words to go with him

THAT IS A GREAT WAY TO SUM THEM UP..GREAT PICS AND WORDS..
ReplyDeleteYou've captured some really great photos of the Meadowlark Jann...Your music goes so well with your Blog too...
ReplyDeleteHow luck you are. I haven't seen or heard a Meadowlark in years. Maybe if I pickup a few beers and sit out in the pasture, one will come around;)

What a stunning yellow on the lark J'Ellen. All our larks are a drab brown ( but they sing well!)
ReplyDeleteAnother of your great series of pictures. Meadowlarks are one of the first songs we hear in the spring on the desert west of Rexburg.
ReplyDeleteMore memories. Thanks.
